- CENTER INFORMATION SYSTEM EXECUTIVE
-
- GUIDE TO OPERATIONS
-
-
- 1.0 INTRODUCTION
-
- 1.1 Purpose and Scope
-
- The purpose of this document is to briefly describe the
- procedure for operating and using the Center Information
- System Executive.
-
- 1.2 Description
-
- The Center Information System Executive is designed to access
- the software packages and programs on a hard disk with only
- one keystroke. The CISE has two menus from which the user
- can access the software packages. All of the options on the
- menus are selected by pressing the function key corresponding
- to the number of the option.
-
- Additional menus can be obtained by pressing the <PgDn> key.
-
- 2.0 OPERATING CISE
-
- 2.1 Screen Formats
-
- The first menu to appear on the screen is as follows:
-
-
- <Main Menu Display goes here>
-
-
- The left side of the screen contains ten options available
- from this menu. The user may choose an option from this menu
- by pressing the function key corresponding to the number of
- his selection.
-
- The current date and time, and the Computer Sciences
- Corporation (CSC) Help Desk telephone number are displayed in
- the center of the screen.
-
- The right side of the screen contains the calendar.
-
- The second menu, shown below, can be obtained by pressing the
- <PgDn> key.
-
-
- <Main Menu Display goes here>
-
-
- The second menu operates in the same manner as the first
- menu.
-
- 2.1.2 Accessing Software
-
- The user may choose any of the ten options that are listed on
- the left side of the above menus by pressing the function key
- that corresponds to the number of his choice.
-
- When the CISE is installed by the User Work Station
- Installation Group of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), it
- is configured to the software packages that are residing on
- the individual's hard disk. This allows the CISE to have a
- standard format and still be versatile enough to meet the
- user's needs. An example of this versatility can be shown
- with the Word Processor option on the menu above. When the
- F1 (function key #1) is pressed, the CISE will access either
- Wordstar or PFS:WRITE depending upon whichever package is
- configured on the individual's hard disk. Any changes to the
- configuration must be done by the Installation Group. Users
- may call the CSC Help Desk if they want to change their
- configurations.
